Woven Wool & Silk
Woven in Italy by a mill with more than 50 years of expertise, this luxurious cloth combines 93% wool with 7% silk to create a fabric that is both practical and refined. Wool provides natural warmth, breathability and resilience, making it ideally suited to a lined dressing gown, while the addition of silk lends a softer handle and a subtle lustre that enhances the richness of the weave.
The New & Lingwood Peacock
Our signature Peacock motif is an evolution of a pattern found on a 19th century silk ceremonial robe from Russia. The intricate design featured floral patterns woven amongst peacocks in bold colourful patterns, as was typical of artisans at the time. To make the design our own, we isolated and simplified the peacock to a three-colour pattern that we freshly render in different colour palettes.
Gauntlet Cuffs
Gauntlet cuffs trace their origins to military and labour uniforms, where they were designed to provide added protection and durability. Reinterpreted here, the extended cuff brings a sense of structure and purpose to the design, lending the garment an elevated, classic character.
Twist Piping
The dressing gown is finished with twist piping, applied to frame and define the silhouette. Running along the lapels, cuffs, pockets, and belt tip, the piping adds visual clarity and a refined edge, allowing the details of the design to stand out. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it also reinforces areas of frequent handling, helping maintain shape and finish over time.
